Aleta Jackson
Co-Founder, Chief Technician, and Office Manager
Loretta “Aleta” Jackson is one of XCOR’s founders. She is a technician, editor, and an engineering drawing/parts inspector in addition to being the company archivist, personnel manager and “mom” to the shop crew. She was formerly employed by Rotary Rocket Company where her duties included managing the systems engineering and technical documentation.
Aleta has over 30 years experience in research and development within the aerospace community, starting with McDonnell Douglas on the Gemini program where she was an electronics-packaging designer. She spent several years with Electron Emissions Systems as a microcircuit research technician and 10 years with Xerox Corporation as a field technician. She has more than 10 years experience as a professional editor and writer, and has been published in the Washington Post, ANALOG, and other magazines. She attended Indiana Institute of Technology and Arizona State University majoring in mechanical engineering. Aleta was the first woman to fly in the X-Racer.
